Post-Farewell Show/ Highlights

Rev. Bookburn – The Reverend Is In show

Dark Side of Oz

This site shall continue as promised. We are returning to post the link for hearing the farewell show, the playlist, various goodies, rantings and commentary. It’s not going to look the same as when we were posting countless links, but we’ll keep the posts here worthwhile and stimulating. We shall also highlight selected shows from the past when we post updates on this site.

Big thanks for all the support and feedback before and after the farewell show. This ride with the Bookburners shall never be forgotten. If there is a res-erection of the show, you’ll read it here first.

One of many things that will hopefully endure after our farewell show: the emphasis we always made to avoid passivity. At jobs, with friends or relatives, live shows and pretty much anywhere, many people can rationalize passivity and believing that nothing can be affected or changed. Passivity and inaction are ludicrous. There is a need for people to be vocal, commenting online – not just the cool sites, but Yahoo, Washington Post and anywhere else all the assholes go to repeat what they heard on fox “news.” It’s the earliest lesson in life. If the sandbox bully is used to responses of silence and passivity, he becomes even more deranged.

Death of a Cousin

A cousin of one of us has passed and it was a challenging experience. Her zeal for life was amazing. She was amused when I compared her to Maude (from the Harold and Maude film). To the end, she was a fantastic person. Impressively, she willed the funds that were to be donated to small indie groups, instead of the usual large corporate-types of orgs. She will be missed.

Wooden Screw

Throughout the 15 years that The Reverend Is In show broadcasted, free plugs, links, etc were provided for Wooden Shoe Books and Records in Philadelphia. It is run by a non-profit collective and none of us had any complaints with them. As we began purging a warehouse worth of music, books, etc., we decided that some of the best items would not be sold at Agent 45’s ebay store, but donated to Wooden Shoe. It would diversify their inventory, provide a financial boost, and turn people on to great counter-cultural items that have been rare. For reasons that only make sense to space aliens, they moved it all to their basement and left it there for several months. Most people didn’t really know what to say on the phone so they deferred to a long-time veteran of the “collective.” He mumbled in jibberish that was occasionally coherent. Bottom line: he’s an overworked martyr with the weight of the world on his shoulders. There is a risk of passing out from exhaustion if he wipes his ass. At one point, I even went there to bring the items up and put recommended sale prices on everything. Now 95% of the process was done for them. Weeks later, only the found books were made available to others. Sex, Drugs & Democracy and another great DVD never found in Philly are still invisible. Several great sealed CDs are the same. But the worst – in all the months of inaction, several rare and great classics disappeared. Abbie Hoffman’s Steal This Book (great condition) vanished entirely, never to be seen by anyone who goes into the store. Also disappeared: Not The Bible book, No Justice No Piece (great book by advocates and defenders of sex workers), White House Email book, Paul Krassner CDs, 5 copies of the last issue of Savage Pink (@ punk zine – Philly – 80s – bagged and labeled). It was not ok for those items to be in a basement for months, then vanished by one or more assholes. We have sorted through more items than most people would believe for the past year. Their level of dysfunction and being muddleheaded is off the charts. If they continue to demolish themselves, the cause of death for Wooden Shoe would be Dumbfuckery.

Mobile Phone Companies

If you are going to say that AT&T and Verizon are huge corporations who are total rip-offs and provide funding for the ugliest groups in the nation (racists, tea-psychos, anti-choice, climate deniers, etc.), we will totally agree. If you tell us that T-Mobile is working very hard to be as criminal as AT&T, Comcast and other constant bill inflators, we will also agree. Credo is indie and gives to ok causes, but the service and phones are crap. If there is a mobile provider that is not a nightmare, please send info to

Kurt Cobain’s ghost: “Why are modern-day Yoko-basher-types of assholes still insulting my wife and believing crazy lies?”
